Your rent a car comes with third party insurance that will cover the occupants of the car, and any damage you may cause to other road users.
Excess Deposit and CDW (Collision Damage Waiver)
You will be required to leave an insurance excess (guarantee/deposit) of €120 for car groups A to C and €240 for car groups D to H. TRC will hold details of your credit card and reserves the right to charge the agreed excess as follows:
· If you have an accident with another vehicle and it is legally not your fault, and details of the other vehicle and driver are diligently recorded on an accident report form (kept in the vehicle), your insurance excess is not affected as TRC can claim from the other party.
· If you have an accident and you are responsible, you could lose part or all of your excess, depending on the cost of the repair.
· Collision Damage Waiver is available, which means that the insurance excess is not required. Please consult staff for the rates, which are not refundable. However a credit card deposit is still required, which will be returned in full when the vehicle is returned on time, in good condition, and with the correct amount of fuel.
· The hirer may be held responsible for any damage to the vehicle if they have been negligent. The vehicle may not be driven:
a) For hire or reward (ie sub-renting)
b) For racing, rallies, speed trials, or tuition
c) In a manner or purpose for which it was not constructed
d) By any person not authorised by TRC without prior consent
e) Outside the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife
f) In the event of mechanical, electrical or structural failures, where continuing to drive it may cause further damage, or be in contravention of the law
g) By any person under the influence of drugs or alcohol or who is not licensed to drive the vehicle.
